Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 25, 2026

SunSavings ("SunSavings," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit sunsavings.org (the "Site") or use our services, how we use and share that information, and the rights and choices available to you. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

We collect information you choose to give us, including:

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address, and phone number when you submit a contact form, request an estimate, or communicate with us.
  • Home and project details, such as your street address, information about your roof, and details from your electric bill when you use our solar calculator or advisory service.
  • Communications, including the content of emails, form submissions, and other messages you send us.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with the Site, including:

  • IP address and general location derived from it
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages you visit, links you click, and the time and date of your visit
  • Referring URLs and search terms that brought you to the Site
  • Cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies

Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from advertising platforms (such as Google and Meta) and from installation partners, for example when you click one of our ads or when we coordinate a project on your behalf.

2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels, tags, and local storage) to operate the Site, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and measure the performance of our advertising.

  • Strictly necessary technologies are required for the Site to function, such as remembering your privacy choices.
  • Analytics technologies help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
  • Advertising technologies, including the Meta Pixel and Google advertising tags, help us measure whether our ads lead to visits and requests, and may be used to show you our ads on other platforms. They are on by default for visitors in the United States. You can opt out at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our footer, or by sending the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser.
  • Consent certification. When you request a quote we use TrustedForm, a service from ActiveProspect, to create an independent record of the form you completed and the consent language shown to you. It records your interaction with the form, such as the pages and fields you used and the time you submitted. We use it to document that consent was given, and it operates whether or not you have opted out of advertising measurement, because it records the request itself rather than measuring advertising. See the ActiveProspect privacy policy at activeprospect.com/privacy-policy.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our footer, which opens our privacy choices panel. You can opt out there, or turn advertising measurement back on if you change your mind. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Site and our services
  • Prepare solar savings estimates and equipment recommendations
  • Connect you with vetted installation partners at your request
  • Respond to your questions and fulfill your requests
  • Send you service related and, where permitted, marketing communications
  • Measure and improve the performance of our advertising
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security, and technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements

4. Advertising and Analytics Partners

We work with third party advertising and analytics providers, including Google and Meta. Unless you opt out, these partners may collect or receive information from the Site (such as cookie identifiers, IP address, and pages visited) and use it to provide measurement services and to deliver ads on their platforms.

  • Google. We may use Google Ads and Google Analytics features such as remarketing and conversion measurement. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage Google's ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • Google Maps Platform. Our solar estimate may use Google Maps, Places, Geocoding and Solar API data to locate the home, display aerial imagery and estimate a possible panel layout. Google receives the address or confirmed map point needed to provide those services. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Meta. We may use the Meta Pixel and related tools to measure conversions and reach audiences on Facebook and Instagram. You can learn more in Meta's Privacy Policy and manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

We also use the submitted address, state and county to identify the likely electric utility and its published average residential rate. Utility and state rate information comes from public US Energy Information Administration data, with NREL and OpenEI lookups used for service-territory and tariff details when available.

Some of this activity may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising," under certain US state privacy laws. You have the right to opt out as described in Section 7.

5. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Installation partners, when you ask us to connect you with a solar installer, so they can prepare quotes and complete your project.
  • Service providers who perform services for us, such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery, analytics, and customer support, under contracts that limit their use of your information.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, as described in Section 4, and only consistent with your privacy choices.
  • Legal and safety recipients, when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SunSavings, our users, or others.
  • Business transferees, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information for money. As noted above, certain advertising related disclosures may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" under state law, and you may opt out of those at any time.

6. Data Retention and Security

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain our business records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or deidentify it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Choices available to everyone

  • Advertising preferences. Opt out of advertising cookies and of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising at any time via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, which opens our privacy choices panel. The same panel lets you turn advertising measurement back on.
  • Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser.
  • Marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the message.
  • Do Not Track. Because there is no common industry standard, the Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We do honor GPC as described above.

US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live (including California and states with similar comprehensive privacy laws such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah), you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to know and access the personal information we have collected about you
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • The right to delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising
  • The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right)
  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request" or write to us at the address in Section 10. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and you may use an authorized agent where permitted by law. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email.

Notice of financial incentive

We do not currently offer programs that would be considered a financial incentive under California law. If that changes, we will update this Policy with the required details.

8. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are material, provide additional notice as required by law. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
